Changi Village Hawker Centre
Changi Village Hawker Centre arose in 1975 as part of Singapore's intention to make it a leisure and recreation area on the far-east end of the island. After the British left Singapore in 1971, this was when ideas came up to reinvent Changi village as a hawker centre. By 1976, 74 stalls and a market with 78 stalls were in business. Today, Changi Village Hawker Centre has made itself a dining place set in a relaxed suburbia surrounding, with its most popular dish the Nasi Lemak. The hawker still manages to maintain its old-school charm and is an iconic part of Changi Village.
